Negros 1st Cyber Center Milestones

Recently, Governor Alfredo Marañon invited the provincial officials of Negros Occidental to see the development of the Negros 1st Cyber Centre. He invited the Vice Gov. Eugenio Lacson, along with other Provincial Board members, although the former was represented by his chief of staff, Jonathan Lobaton, as he was in Manila at that time.

The governor was able to showcase and define the huge potentials that the Cyber Centre has in terms of further boosting the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry in the city. In fact, the governor didn’t only invite the provincial officials, but also other officials who have in one way or another contributed to this booming industry. These officials include City Councilor Atty. Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, who used to be the consultant of the provincial government on Information Technology - Business Process Outsourcing.

The second phase of the Cyber Centre, which is located in corner Hernaez-Lacson Streets, will require approximately P180 million to be completed. The governor stated that the moment the Cyber Centre becomes fully operational, it will definitely give the economic growth of the province a big boost.

According to reports, the Cyber Centre is simply awaiting the President’s proclamation, as an Information Technology Center. When this is issued, investors that would be investing in the area will be able to avail of certain economic zone incentives, which can further strengthen business.

The three-storey complex will be the future home to IT professionals, and will soon provide thousands of job opportunities.
